We have two great sandy beaches for swimming, with plenty of toys to keep the adventurous type busy. Perfect your “cannonball” off the high diving platform, or if you would prefer to float around on an air mattress with a good book . . . there is plenty of room for this endeavor too.
If you have your own boat, bring it up and we can arrange docking for you on site. If not, we have canoes for rent or we can make arrangements for a motorboat. There is over 60 miles of navigable water on the Upper Ottawa and Mattawa Rivers at your doorstep. The rivers are wider than many lakes, offering ample space for waterskiing, wakeboarding and tubing.
Town of Mattawa:
Situated on the beautiful Mattawa and Ottawa Rivers, the town boasts many quaint shops, restaurants and numerous other amenities such as a hospital, library and museum. The population is just over 2000 and proud of its historical significance. Mattawa is Ojibway for “The meeting of the waters”, and the waterways were the “401″ for traders in the early years of Canada. Mattawa celebrates its history every year in July with a unique festival called Voyageur Days . There are activities for the whole family, and only a short walking distance from Sid Turcotte Park.
With 2000 feet of waterfront on the Mattawa River, you can fish off our shores, catching trophy sized pickeral, pike and bass. Or hop in a boat and discover your own fishing hole in the 60 miles of navigable water of the Upper Ottawa and Mattawa Rivers. The rivers host many sizable fish of many different species. The anglers favorites tend to be Northern Pike, Walleye and Bass.
Whether you prefer to ride an ATV, Mountain Bike, Horseback or hiking we have excellent trail systems from the town of Mattawa. Our most prominent system is the Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System or VMUTS. The VMUTS system has a range of beginner to difficult terrain only minutes from Sid Turcotte Park.
